Caroline Hunter

Caroline was born in Edinburgh in 1964, the family then relocating to the Orkney Isles in 1968. She attended Aberdeen University (1982 – 86), gaining an Honours degree in History of Art. 

She is well known both for her understated, yet powerful, somewhat mesmerizing seascapes and for her equally arresting, still lifes, which have a distinctive almost timeless quality. Often juxtaposing vibrant summer flowers and grasses with shells, seaweed or sea-glass, her intimate connection to Scotland’s wild places and a certain contemplative sensibility resonate through her work.
