Rosanne Barr is a contemporary Scottish landscape painter whose work is inspired by memory, imagination, and an emotional connection to place. Born in Gartocharn, at the south end of Loch Lomond, she graduated with First Class Honours from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, in 2003.
Rosanne’s paintings reflect her lifelong relationship with the Scottish coastline and islands, particularly the North West seaboard and Orkney — landscapes she has known since childhood and continues to visit with her young family. Rather than painting literal views, she captures the mood, light, and atmosphere of a place, filtered through time. Her distinctive style is defined by expressive brushwork, simplified forms, and heightened colour, evoking imagined Lands of Escape.
Now based in Milngavie, where she works full-time from her garden studio, Rosanne’s work has been exhibited widely across the UK and is held in private collections worldwide. Highlights include being shortlisted for the Barclays TSB Jolomo Award, participation in the Great Gulf Arts Festival (USA) as International Artist, and an artist residency in Sardinia. Her work has also recently been featured on 'Scotland’s Home of the Year' and 'Location Location Location'.
