Samantha was born in Glasgow in 1988, studying Art and Design at The University of Leeds after enjoying a creative childhood. During her studies she discovered a real love and passion for painting and since graduating has continued to paint and develop her unique style, dependent on the integration of artistic elements; colour, texture, line and shape.
Working with oil on canvas, Samantha experimental style sees her enjoy how the paint reacts on the canvas and the effect produced rather than the exact representation of an image. Working from original photographs and still lifes but mainly enjoying painting from her imagination, Samantha’s work explores mainly floral, landscape and abstract themes. She often begins by creating spontaneous marks and from these building up the paint with the use of gestural and instinctive brush strokes.
