Victoria Wylie

Victoria creates contemporary landscape paintings from her home studio in Angus. Inspired by the wilderness of Scotland’s land and seascapes, she produces atmospheric works that celebrate nature’s vastness, the ever-changing drama of shifting elements and the dynamic interplay of light where sky, sea, and land meet.
Horizon lines have always fascinated her, a fascination rooted in her childhood near the North Yorkshire Moors. Her paintings respond to the rhythms of the landscape, exploring the visual tension that arises when sky meets sea meets land. Each artwork captures a memory of a specific place while encompassing numerous experiences, with fragments of one piece informing the next.

Through expressive brushstrokes, rich textures, and bold colour contrasts, Victoria evokes both a deep sense of calm and the fleeting intensity of stormy skies or golden bursts of sunlight. Her connection to, and respect for, the natural world is central to every mark she makes, a connection she hopes to share with viewers through her work.

Victoria graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design with a BDes (Hons) in Constructed Textiles, specialising in Gobelin tapestry weaving, and went on to complete a Master of Fine Art. She has exhibited across Scotland and the UK, with works held in private and corporate collections worldwide.
