The sun has been out and shining for the first week of our Spring exhibition: In Full Bloom. Along with the glorious weather, Spring has swept a brilliant collection of works into the gallery, providing a wonderful opportunity to refresh your walls and take home a gorgeous piece of original art.

In Full Bloom is an all female exhibition featuring five brilliant artists; Julie Smith, Kate Mary, Samantha McCubbin, Greer Ralston and Emma S Davis RSW PAI. Each artist has interpreted Spring in their own special way using varying techniques, materials and subjects.

And...Spring Flies In   Spring Flies In

And... Spring Flies In and Spring Fling by Greer Ralston

Greer Ralston's oil paintings come to life with singing birds flying through her compositions. She cleverly captures the essence of new beginnings with her joyful colour palette, budding flowers and wildlife. Her background in figurative painting shines through as these pieces become a portrait of spring-time.

Using oil paint as a means for texture, Samantha McCubbin's expressive brushstrokes can be seen running through her bouquets of flowers. In these pieces her distinctive markings and thick, fluid swirls of paint rise off the canvas giving them a sense of abstraction.

Julie Smith's landscapes are inspired by Scotland and the natural wonders it offers. Using an unusual mix of medium, from Orkeny wool to sand, alongside various paints, her work has an organic feel to it. Each piece pulls you in with its intriguing textures and leading pathways.

Whispers in the Wind

Whispers in the Wind by Emma S Davis RSW PAI

Also drawing inspiration from the Scottish landscape, Emma S Davis' paintings incorporate floral fields and relaxing scenes. Emma's work feels hopeful and is a gentle reminder that Winter eventually melts away into Spring. With poppies and blossoming trees, we can almost feel the warm breeze flowing through these painted landscapes.

Kate Mary transports us to sunny memories with her oil pastel pieces. Using patterns and fresh colours she captures windows bursting with light and vases filled with bright flowers. This body of work is influenced by her travels to the French Riviera. Using a mediterranean colour palette, Kate's work blows the cobwebs away and refreshes the space.

In Full Bloom will be exhibited at the gallery until Saturday 18th May - with no appointment needed, feel free to pop by the gallery and see these stunning works in person. For those of you unable to visit in person, all exhibited artworks available here, on our website.
