We are over the moon to be showing Nichol Wheatley's first solo exhibition, "STRAVAIGIN".

Nichol's oil paintings beautifully capture broad skies and their ever changing light-scapes. In pursuit of his fascination with light, particularly the twilight hours, these works are doused in calming colours. Providing a moment of stillness in Nichol's meanderings, we are taken on a voyage from Ireland to Holland and around his homeland, Scotland.

Showcasing over forty recent works, this aptly named exhibition borrows it's title from the auld Scottish word stravaigin which means 'to wander aimlessly with intent'.

"STRAVAIGIN"  will be Nichol Wheatley's second exhibition with The Glasgow Gallery since joining us earlier in the year. He has previously exhibited with Sogo Arts, Hatton Gallery and Colinton Arts. He is best known for his large-scale murals that hang in Òran Mór, a collaboration with his late friend and hero, Alasdair Gray.
Alongside "STRAVAIGIN", Nichol is the artist behind Stockingfield Bridge's latest commission, a community based mosaicked sculpture measuring 120m.
