This week the gallery has been transformed into a time warp by Todd Garner's exhibition; Telling Stories.
At first glance, Todd's work appears to be snippets of history painted in the 1930s, but look a bit closer and there are indicators that point to the present day. In Sidewalk Serenade you'll see a gentleman wearing a graphic t-shirt with a dog sat on his lap and in Lazy Morning the sitter is looking at her mobile phone.
To complicate the time-frame more, classic cars can be found in scenes of Glasgow's streets of today and in another painting, a bicycle can be seen leaning against a modern, Parisian road sign.

Todd's paintings cleverly encapsulate many layers of stories, from the sitters' story to the venue's history. He explores venues that hold significant memories in social history such as Musso & Frank Grill, a restaurant frequented by the Hollywood elite including Greta Garbo and Gary Cooper.
Fascinated by people and their ever-changing narrative, his paintings subtly capture human interactions. These details force the viewer to wonder about the sitters story and what could've taken place to result in the depicted scene.
There is a slight auto-biographical element to his work, Todd only paints places he has been to. Both he and his wife can be seen painted into scenes and they have visited many of the locations together, including the RMS Queen Mary where they married.
