Today is this first day of Voyage Through Art and we can't wait to welcome you to this stunning exhibition!

Largely inspired by Margaret Evans' artistic career, that spans 50 years as of 2024, we wanted to celebrate the amazing locations Margaret has travelled to in the name of art. In these exhibited pieces, Margaret revisits her travels to India, Malta, Italy, Morocco and her homeland Scotland - just a small selection of the places her pastels have captured.

This got us thinking about the amazing places artists have immortalised in their work and lead us to an exhibition which celebrates this. The work explores individual journeys in a symbolic and physical sense, taking us to far away locations across the world and everywhere in-between!

We explore Italian and Provincial towns through David Marshall and Peter Foyle’s paintings, adventure through Antarctica with Annie Broadley and stop off in New York with Sandra Moffat. We accompany Jane Birrell MacKenzie on walks through Dubai’s surrounding mountains and journey through Margaret Evans’ pastel pieces and travel diaries.

Each piece holds a unique adventure and memory, told through the artist's eyes. There is a fascinating use of medium and techniques that are individual to the artists' experiences. Sandra has delicately recorded New York scenes reflected off the water on to rippled tissue paper, giving a fresh view point of famous locations. You can feel the hustle and bustle in Peter's cityscapes through his loose brushstrokes and get to relax as the sunsets in Margaret's pastel & gouache pieces. The colour palette each artist has used gives us a sense of dryness in Jane's work, warmth in David's and a crisp-coolness in Annie's icy hues.
