'Scotland's Coasts and Mountains - Moments of Inspiration'
4th - 25th March
The Glasgow Gallery are delighted to welcome Margaret Evans back to the Gallery for a Solo Exhibition of over 30 new works of our beloved Scottish Coast and Mountains through the eyes of one of Scotlands most renowned pastel workers. Margaret captures the light of Scotland through a notoriously hard medium like no other!
"This exhibition is important to me as it “brings home” to Glasgow, a collection of moments while travelling, that catch my breath, feast my eyes, and inspire a painting. Nowadays, my travels are fewer, but just a quick drive locally from my Perthshire home can be enough to experience the same moment of impact .
Whether my library of sketchbooks from all my travels initiate a work, or the camera/phone on a quick local trip, the impact is the same - a moment of inspiration. Sometimes it’s the sun setting behind clouds, or the light over the landscape. It creates a magic moment which pastels can immediately capture. My medium is pastel, whether dry and sketchy for quick impressions, or mixed with water & gouache to form a painterly build up.
I no longer teach, but paint as much as I can now, collecting new ‘moments’ to portray. The inspiration never stops, and the pastels are always ready to spring into action."
All works will be available to view and purchase in the gallery and online.
