Carol Nunan

Carol Nunan is an innovative printmaker whose evocative work draws deeply from the landscape. Her distinctive prints capture atmospheric moods inspired by Neolithic and Christian archaeological sites, and the rich textures of our natural heritage.

As the first printmaker featured at The Glasgow Gallery, Carol's unique approach combines monotype and collagraph processes to create pieces with the depth of paintings. Each print is meticulously created by hand, incorporating natural materials, hand-cut stencils, and handmade printing plates.

Her creative philosophy embraces serendipity and unconventional colour palettes that reflect the landscape's changing moods—a sensibility shaped by her Irish heritage and African upbringing. Carol has exhibited widely at prestigious UK venues including Printfest, the Rheged Great Print Exhibition, the Newcastle Biscuit Factory and Cambridge Contemporary Art. Her work is held in private collections in Germany, South Africa, China, the USA, New Zealand, the UK and Ireland.

Born in Ireland and raised in Zambia, Carol graduated in Visual Communications from the National College of Art & Design, Dublin. After working as a graphic designer internationally she dedicated herself to fine art printmaking, building a dedicated following in the North East of England and growing recognition in Scotland.
