About Edge of the Known: 23rd May - 20th June
Group Exhibition with feature artist, Connie Liebschner
- alongside Julie Smith, Kerry Souter and Carol Nunan
23rd May - 20th June
Edge of the Known brings together a group of contemporary artists exploring the shifting boundary where land meets water. Through painting and print, each offers a deeply personal response to coastlines, islands and inland waters, creating spaces that feel both familiar and quietly otherworldly.
At the heart of the exhibition, Connie Liebschner presents a new body of work that moves into a brighter, more surreal territory. Her layered compositions explore water not only as a reflective surface but as a mysterious presence that exists between the visible and the unknown.
Julie Smith, Kerry Souter and Carol Nunan each offer distinct yet harmonious interpretations of the Scottish landscape. Through textured surfaces, intuitive mark making and layered processes, their works echo the rhythms of erosion, light and time, shaped by memory and a deep sensitivity to place.
Together, the artists present landscapes that feel both immediate and ancient, where solidity gives way to fluidity and traces of history and experience quietly emerge. Edge of the Known invites viewers to pause within these in-between spaces where the familiar meets the unknown.
Edge of the Known begins on Saturday 23rd May and we will be hosting a 'Meet the Artist' on Saturday 30th May between 11am and 1pm. All welcome!
